30th Jan around 16:00 it would be when after a tiring and exhaustive day at BVP College in Paschim Vihar, we walked into an outlet called Food Overloaded (FO) looking for some respite and of course who doesn’t wish to eat a quick bite that is fast and tasty and not too heavy on the pocket.
We had ordered Baked Nachos, Garlic Bread, Makhni Pasta, Chilly Potato, Oreo Shake, Ferrero Rocher Shake, Rocky Road Shake (this was selected as replacement to Snickers Shake which they didn’t have in availability at that point of time), Berry Blast and then concluded with a Nutella Sandwich.
For the size and crowd at the outlet the service was comparatively slower than expected or what we had heard about them. So the first order to arrive was Garlic Bread, Oreo Shake followed by Baked Nachos. The Garlic Bread was pretty decent and tasted good, the crust was crisp, nicely tasted with crisp exteriors and lush rich interiors. Nachos were again a good selection and the quantity served was good.
Then Chilli Potato was served, which was well cooked with crisp exteriors, while the interiors were a little moist and soft for a chilli potato, and alongside for a dish that is specially made to be it wasn’t too chilli to taste.
Next we laid our hands on the Makhni Pasta, which has been boasted about by a few people in our personal circles to be a great dish. It looks pretty good, but after tasting we realised that it is more like an INDIANISED version of an Italian dish at which they haven’t quite succeeded. The pasta tasted like salt boiled pasta tossed in shahi paneer gravy.
Nutella Sandwich as promised was a pretty good dish, nicely presented with chocolate sauce dressing, well grilled and Nutella was evenly spread, it is indeed a perfect snacking dessert partner.
Now the reason we didn’t talk about the drinks earlier is because, the shakes nearly all of them tasted alike. They had a grainy chocolaty texture, a little frothy and a little smooth except for the part where the topping was to be added, for the Oreo Shake they had added a little crushed Oreo on top and had whisked a little bit of Oreo crumbs in the shake, for Ferrero Rocher Shake again the same old shake was topped with crushed Ferrero bits. While Snickers Shake wasn’t available, it’s alternative that we had ordered had nothing rocky or road like to be tasted. It turned out to be huge disappointment except for the chocolate sponge cake bit that was put on top. Which again literally surprised us, when we found a big piece of plastic scrap in the middle of the chocolate sponge while biting into it while it was in one of our member’s mouth. On pointing out, they gave us a replacement of the same shake, which tasted equally poor. The Berry Blast juice, well we didn’t mention it anywhere except for in the list of orders because it took them forever to serve it. As if they had to grow berries and extract the juice. Alas, when it was served it was furthermore a disappointment due to the fact that it was merely a regular tetra pack berry juice available in the market, slightly diluted with chopped green apple bits and half a lemon squeezed in it.
Over all, we were neither very happy nor very upset with the place, but with the type of disappointment the drinks turned out to be, we’ll give them 2 on a scale of 5.
